ULOHA is collaborating with our June Spotlight Organization: Ko’olau Mountains Watershed Partnership in this hands-on SEED BALL MAKING Workshop. In participating in this wonderful event, you will follow along through KMWP’s walk-through explaining how to roll a seed ball while being educated on native plants, our watersheds, etc. The seed balls that we make will be donated to KMWP for their use in future planting/conservation projects- so you will ALSO be benefitting our groundwater! June is here and summer is coming! This means no school, beautiful weather, and so many opportunities for YOU to GET OUT THERE. From environmental projects (like our Seed Ball Making Workshop on June 19th) to health/fitness events (like the Mango Days 5k on June 18th), ULOHA is so excited to spend the month helping out and participating in our community. ULOHA’s environmental focus for the month of June will be “WATER IS LIFE.”  Being on an island in which fresh water is relatively harder to come by, it is important for us to possess a special awareness toward engaging in efficient water usage practices. In Hawaii, our primary source of drinking water is groundwater, filtered through watersheds. TOMORROW (Saturday: June 3rd) is a big race day in Hawai’i! The Ironman 70.3 Hawai’i will be held along the Kohala Coast on Big Island (starting with the swim at Pauoa Bay). Racers will tough it out through a 1.2 mi swim, 56 mi bike ride, and 13.1 mi run.  ULOHA wishes the best of luck to all of the Ironmen and Ironwomen participating in such a challenging event!
