This is a case of you get what you pay for. I bought a couple pairs of generic spikes that look like these on the 'zon for maybe 1/4 the price, and in both cases the chain immediately started stretching, then broke through the silicone after 6-9 hikes. Then I splurged and got these at Uloha. 4 years later and there has been zero chain stretch, no tears in the silicone, and no sign of them breaking down anytime soon. Ask yourself if it's worth saving the sixty bucks when your spikes fail on the way down from Lanihuli or K1.
