The Mango Days 5k will be held at Magic Island this coming Sunday. This race is very special, at it is organized in the honor of of Patty Smith, who lost her battle to lymphoma at just 19. The race will start at 6:30 am. Be sure to partake in EARLY PACKET PICKUP, with one of these days being held at ULOHA: Saturday June 17th (8a-12p). We will see you then!

Today is KING KAMEHAMEHA DAY: the day in which we honor Kamehameha the Great: unifier of the Hawaiian Islands. There are so many festivities around the island to celebrate this wonderful day! Perhaps you were able to participate in the annual lei-draping ceremony at Aliʻiōlani Hale, the floral parade through Waikiki, or otherwise. Regardless of how you will commemorate King Kamehameha Day, ULOHA encourages you to GET OUT THERE and celebrate!

Ko'olau Mountains Watershed Partnership is ULOHA's June Spotlight Organization. This means that they get to take charge of our table right at the entrance of our store! KMWP used this opportunity to lay out some informational material regarding the prevention of Rapid Ohi'a Death, native species of the Ko'olau Mountains, and MORE. ULOHA is collaborating with our June Spotlight Organization: Ko’olau Mountains Watershed Partnership in this hands-on SEED BALL MAKING Workshop. In participating in this wonderful event, you will follow along through KMWP’s walk-through explaining how to roll a seed ball while being educated on native plants, our watersheds, etc. The seed balls that we make will be donated to KMWP for their use in future planting/conservation projects- so you will ALSO be benefitting our groundwater!
