Hawaii’s Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) is ULOHA’s May Spotlight! This means that we get to feature some of their focuses and highlights on the front table of ULOHA. Because our theme this month is “invasives,” DLNR displayed many items relating to the work they do in invasive removal, featuring an example (the bellyache plant) for you to see/touch!  Come in to ULOHA to check out the table!

In May, ULOHA will be focussing on invasive vs native species. Being an island, Hawaii has quite a specific set of native plants and species. Over the past few decades, so many invasives have been introduced (whether with good intentions or otherwise). Keep your eyes peeled for May events w/ ULOHA to work on eliminating invasives. TOGETHER we can restore natives to Oahu, conserve the natural environment, and protect our community.
